I was born and raised in Walworth county, WI, and graduated from East Troy high school. Following High School, I traveled the west doing itinerant work exploring new territory. I then served three years in the Marine Corps (Semper Fi) and was stationed in Cyprus, attached to the embassy staff.
Following discharge I spent the next ten years, on and off, working at many, various employments and attending college. For five years in the 1970's I was a fishing guide on the Chippewa Flowage, chasing the ever elusive musky. Eventually I graduated from UW-Madison with a BA degree in English, and UW law school in 1981. I labored in the general practice of law for twenty years, with an emphasis on trial work; and have been engaged exclusively in bankruptcy practice since 2000.
